What is your application deadline?
For an entering freshman student, the Fall priority deadline is July 15th.
For an entering transfer student, the Spring priority deadline is December 15th, and Fall is August 1st.
What is your scholarship process and deadline?
An entering freshman wishing to be considered for academic scholarships must be admitted to the university by December 1st. There is not a separate application; the admission application serves as your scholarship application. However the Montevallo Ambassador Program Scholarship (M.A.P.S.) and the Montevallo Ambassador Leadership Scholarship (M.A.L.S) does require a resume` and potential interview on campus. Please visit our Finances page to learn more about scholarships.
A student transferring from a two-year community college must be admitted by February 1st prior to enrolling in the fall term.
What if my student doesn’t meet the admissions criteria?
The Office of Admissions encourages all students to apply for admission to the University. If a student does not meet the current admissions criteria, the student will be allowed to submit a supplemental admissions application that will be reviewed by the Admissions Appeal Committee. This application will allow the student to communicate why they think they will be successful at the University of Montevallo. Letters of recommendation are also encouraged in support of the supplemental application.
Are there leadership based scholarships, and what about departmental scholarships?
Yes, the University of Montevallo does offer scholarships based upon a students’ involvement and extracurricular activities in school. Students not meeting the criteria for academic based scholarship are encouraged to submit a resume, along with completing the FASFA (Free Application for Federal Aid) as demonstrated need is also a criteria in awarding such scholarships. Leadership based scholarships are generally awarded in February and March.
The University offers some departmental scholarships for entering freshmen: those departments generally are the Music, Theatre, English, and Art. Departmental contact information.
